Increasing numbers of conservative evangelicals are denying basic tenets of classical Christian teaching about God, with departures occurring even among those of the Calvinistic persuasion. James Dolezal's All That Is in God provides an exposition of the historic Christian position while engaging with these contemporary deviations.

His convincing critique of the newer position he styles "theistic mutualism" is philosophically robust, systematically nuanced, and biblically based. It demonstrates the need to maintain the traditional viewpoint, particularly on divine simplicity, and spotlights the unfortunate implications for other important Christian doctrines, such as divine eternality and the Trinity, if it were to be abandoned. Arguing carefully and cogently that all that is in God is God himself, the work is sure to stimulate debate on the issue in years to come.

To tell the truth, I never had these thoughts explained to me before this book. I would ask about the trinity, and the answers were...well they never "showed their work". I was given analogies, which was well and good to say just how unified God is, but in the case of "three persons in one", it never made sense.

This is perhaps my first true theology book that was more on a metaphysic type than the ethical/virtue type. This is something I think I can return to and get great benefit.

yes yes, im going back to the Bible, don't you worry.

very intriguing thought process

a great look at an oft neglected Divine attribute

Our body is where we do, not who we are;
the Universe is God's body?

Excellent thought journey.

In the face of continuous revisions of God’s person by contemporary (and well meaning) theologians, this book reminds the reader of God’s otherness in a way that is both jarring and comforting.

As good a defense of God as there is
