A "fascinating book" that will revolutionize our understanding of the brain and the future of AI (Financial Times)

For all of neuroscience's advances, we've made little progress on its biggest question: How do simple cells in the brain create intelligence?

Jeff Hawkins and his team discovered that the brain uses maplike structures to build a model of the world—not just one model, but hundreds of thousands of models of everything we know. This discovery allows Hawkins to answer important questions about how we perceive the world, why we have a sense of self, and the origin of high-level thought.

A Thousand Brains heralds a revolution in the understanding of intelligence. It is a big-think book, in every sense of the word.

Jeff Hawkins has done it again, giving us more insight into the functioning of the brain. He goes all the way this time laying a convincing foundation for the underlying algorithm of the neocortex. He also goes further - much much further to the implications and future of humanity. A truly eye opening and potentially game changing read.

Mind blowing

The author covers a lot of material, ideas and analogies. It was more than I expected.

Interesting concept

I find the idea that the brain contains many many areas each creating and enhancing models of boots of the world around us and then linking to make a fuller and more complex model is very exciting to me.
While he transitions to ideas that may be considered political, I would agree with him that they are basically fact based and certainly thought provoking.

Mind expanding and mind evolving

Great book that’s read well. Would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in neuroscience or machine learning.

Thought Provoking

I was compelled to share my positive experience with the book after seeing so many negative reviews.

Ironically, the negative reviews seemingly come from the very same dangerous phenomenons of intelligence that are described in the book, fascinating!

valuable information on both AI and intelligence
