volume variation makes it difficult to listen to

classic story but recording quality was poor or had odd variation to tone that made it less enjoyable.

Would prefer a male narrator

Enjoyed the story, of course, and the narrator did a good job. However, since the story was told by the father, it was a little confusing to hear it in a female voice.
