The Woman: She was a beautiful, gifted descendant of Lady Astor. But Elizabeth Haysom was also a spoiled, willful daughter of privilege.

The Lover: He was the brilliant young son of a German diplomat. But his love for Elizabeth would draw Jens Soering into a web of madness and murder.

The Murder: When Elizabeth's parents were found savagely butchered in their elegant Virginia country home, she and Jens fled to Europe - igniting an international manhunt that spanned three continents.

The Trial: The sensational courtroom drama that followed painted a twisted portrait of two golden youths consumed by hatred and perverse fantasies. Elizabeth's startling testimony - and intimations of acts and desires that went beyond mere murder - would reveal a tangled web of dark secrets and deadly obsession.

Contains mature themes.

I have been studying this case. when was my whole life and This has been the best book I have read on the subject so far. Yes it's a little dated because that's when it was written but still overall so much information

I couldn’t stop listening to this. The story is fascinating but the way it’s told is captivating. I highly recommend this book!

Incredible

This is a good and very detailed of murder of parents, so well researched, with a lengthy telling of interviews and court proceedings. At times I wasn't sure of some of folks and what was happening--this was not a "simple" case, but well written, glad I stayed with it. Good narration.

Good and detailed TRUE CRIME

Although this book is quite long, I did not lose track of the story. It is very detailed and I wondered how the author acquired so much information -it was probably in court reports. I recommend this book to any true crime enthusiasts.

Easy to follow

This account of cold-blooded murder and subsequent coverup is ... kind of boring.
We hear the same descriptions of the perpetrators so frequently that it can only be described as filler material. Eventually, interest wanes to the point of indifference.

Apart from a few glaring mispronunciations, narration is fine.
