Welsh baker Poppy Davies is happily living her best life in London. Passionate about her work, there is nothing more she could possibly want - except to land the coveted job of baking the official biscuits for the upcoming royal wedding for Prince Christian, second in line to the throne. It's an assignment that could change the entire trajectory of her professional career.

But what about her personal life?

An accidental meeting with Prince Alexander of Wales, the future king, changes everything. Poppy won't deny the sexy, dark-haired prince is madly attractive, but his reputation as a playboy - and the fact that she's the least likely woman he'd ever be interested in - puts this in the TV movie category, not real life.

Yet Poppy can't deny the spark between herself and Xander. As their relationship grows, so does the looming reality of a royal romance in the public eye. Can a baker be accepted as the girlfriend of the heir to the throne-and can she keep true to herself in the role? And will Xander come to believe that he truly is a man worthy of the sacrifice a romance with him requires?

It’s not badly written, it’s just a story that’s been told before with better plot.

The performance is really a detractor here, the odd pronunciations are so distracting. (The reader says Beautiful it’s 3 words, rather than 3 syllables for example.)

Repetitive

I wanted to love this series. But after three books that I only listen to while doing other things, I just can’t anymore. I ignored the overly lovey dovey, sickly sweet prose attributing my dislike to it just being a me thing. But that on top of GLARING historically inaccurate and social references, I can’t do it anymore. I was somewhat able to ignore styling the King and Queen Consort incorrectly (on and off) by styling them as “His/Her/Your Royal Highness.” (The correct styling is “His/Her/You Majesty.”) But the absolute final straw was the author declaring that Henry VII (7th) and Jane Seymour were married and are now buried together in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. Henry VIII (8th) was married to Jane Seymour and THEY are buried in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. Henry VII (7th) was the father of Henry VIII (8th) and is buried in Westminster Abbey. All three of the books I survived are the same way. Hopefully I can return them because they are just awful.

I tried. Really, I tried.
