When a high-value scientist is taken hostage inside the galaxy's most dangerous prison, Halek Cain is the only man for the job.

The last remaining survivor of the Reaper program, Hal is an unstoppable force of fuel and madness. A veteran amputee-turned-cyborg, he has a history of violence and a talent for killing that is unmatched by any soldier.

With the promise of freedom as his only incentive, he'll stop at nothing to earn back his life from the people who made him, imprisoned him, and were too afraid to let him die.

Experience this exciting beginning to a brand-new series set in the Renegade Star universe. If you're a fan of Escape from New York, Renegade Star, or Deus Ex, you'll love this epic sci-fi thriller.

What we have here is an 8 hour audio book with almost no plot. Lots of space military sci-fi action. Mechanically augmented super soldier kills all the bad guys, but secretly has a heart of gold. Not a bad formula even though it’s been done a thousand times. But in this case there is little plot. A few things happen in the last 30 minutes to set up the next book. Maybe a plot will develop if you keep going in the series, but as a stand alone book it’s pretty bad. I have to decide if this did enough to keep going; probably not. Ray Porter does a great job as usual.

Benefits from the same great narrator Ray Porter, but that's as far as it goes. The story is weak, the action is weak, the character sounds like Joe Ledger but does not possess his depth or gravitas.

The shame is the character concept has so much potential! I mean the last reaper! A cybernetic space-age Steve Austin. Had the makings or at least in name, of a true badass could have been a bit more technical a bit more graphic and a bit more everything.

Joe Ledger Lite

Loved it, as he just showed up in the last book of The Renegade Star series. It's nice to see characters have their own small series and how they be and involved with the Renegade Star and Captain.

Some science but mostly first person shooter perspectives and descriptions. Not engaging for me. Seeking more nuance and intrigue

A no nonsense action novel that gets your blood pumping. Loved every minute of it
