Richard Royal has a hard life.

He lives in a corrupt, church-controlled dystopia, his family is soon broken, and the only joy to be had comes from the escapism of his full-immersion gaming.

Introduced to a new and very illegal game, he finds himself in the body of a dragon, on a quest to find a dark and evil power to serve. But the game is more than it seems, and the dragon is more than a beast. Soon Rich's life is far, far more complicated than he ever expected. And the threats against him grow, both in-game and in realspace.

There is no path that will not lead to blasphemy. And the dark secrets revealed will change two worlds, before all is done....

A new litrpg saga, set in Threadbare's world of Generica Online.

The last chapters of this book really paid off. It looks like the second book will hit its Stride. It's a bit hard to keep up with as it slides from perspective to perspective. I'm beginning to think that books written in that style are not good for audio consumption.

Picked up right at the end

Loved the story and loved the performance, will be sad to not hear Nick on book 2, I really hate narrator changes too. Book only lost maybe half a star because the two main characters can be extremely cringey at times and I personally think them not knowing about each other went on for too long.

Sometimes cringey but overall enjoyable

Great book exploring three different genres. It is a little bogged down by the mmo rpg jargon. I don’t really care about what level each individual skill is at at every moment. Also author could of used more diverse gaming jargon if keeping that in. Any gamer would call a skill that doesn’t have a level an attribute, trait, or feat etc. Calling every “skill” the same term is odd for informed gamers and drops you out of your suspension of disbelief in a jarring way.

Will continue to read the follow up regardless.

As disappointed as I initially was to discover that the narrator from Seiple's other Generica-based books would not be returning for this trilogy, I was genuinely impressed with Nick Podehl's performance. Especially in regards to his female voices, as that is not an easy thing to pull off.
With that said, I absolutely adore this author's tongue in cheek style of writing, and every novel that I read set in this world increases my curiosity, and makes me eager for the next. I will say this though! If you have not read/listened to the Threadbare and Small Medium series yet, then do yourself a favor and come back later. One of the best aspects of this world is slowly unraveling the mystery around it, and the "Playas".
I genuinely believe this book is more enjoyable if you start with the first 3 Threadbare books, then move onto the Small Medium trilogy.
To top it all off, I'm typically the type who takes the majority of the month to go through a book of this length, making that monthly credit last. NOT WITH THESE! Everytime that I begin a new set of these books, I end up eating through a book a week on average!
If you are a fan of fantasy, and are tired of the recycled characters and tropes, then do yourself a favor and enjoy some Andrew Seiple! His love for the genre is obvious, and yet he doesn't take himself too seriously.

A wonderful addition to the world of Generica!
