When Mallon the Undying threatened the land years ago, the elves stopped him - and then disappeared.

Now Mallon's followers seek to bring him back to finish what he started.

Only the Keepers - storytellers, historians, and magic-wielders - are left to stand against them.

Alaric, who betrayed everything he believed to save his wife - and still failed.

Will, a storyteller who’s convinced his weak magic makes him useless.

And Sini, a former slave girl with unimaginable power but no way to wield it.

Can they survive being hunted by dragons, attacked by frost goblins, and betrayed by traitors in their midst?

Or will Mallon's minions overwhelm them and plunge the land into darkness?

Fans of Patrick Rothfuss, David Eddings, and Terry Brooks will love this engaging trilogy. Dive into this enchanting epic fantasy series fans call "heart-pounding, emotional, and very satisfying".

I am adding JA Andrews to my list of good authors to look for. I do not say this lightly.

I have been so disappointed with books/authors in this genre lately. The plots have had major holes in them, or the character development has left a lot to be desired, or the story somehow just failed to draw me in. Not so in this case. These books are very well written and well thought out, the story flows in a sensible way, the twists are believable. I enjoyed this trilogy and will buy more books from this author.

I have read a great deal of fantasy and this one is OK, but suffers from two issues that I found it hard to overcome entirely. First the good: 1. The characters, while a bit stereotypical in some ways were well defined and some were very relatable. 2. The story was solid and consistent and the world had interesting elements. The core of the world system did not deviate much from standard fantasy tropes, but the overall environment still had strong unique elements. 3. The dialogue, especially the banter, rang true and flowed well. In many cases, it was easy to predict exactly what some of the characters were going to say and I mean exactly. I take this as a hallmark of believable dialogue more than a criticism, but that leads me to my issues. The bad 1. All three books were shockingly predictable. Throughout the three books I was only surprised by anything a few times. For the rest of the stories, it was a slow walk towards the inevitable and obvious story points again and again. Some of it was so glaringly obvious that I physically groaned at the very first hints at each plot point. 2. Many of the main characters are frustratingly stupid. I don't mean that I found them to be poorly written characters; I mean they were written to be too stupid for words sometimes. They constantly missed the most obvious of events, plans and developments that any fool would have easily identified. I can't stress enough that this happens over and over.... and over and over again. Not having overly intelligent characters that constantly and instantly leap to the correct conclusion is definitely important to a good story, but that issue is also true with the opposite extreme. Overall, however, it is certainly not anywhere near the worst fantasy experience I have had and I think it has enough entertainment and original elements to be worth experiencing.

OK but slightly flawed trilogy
