In the bleak, not-too-distant future, most people who could fled to the virtual reality OVR World Online.

Zachary "Zee" Jones will never be able to afford to become a player of the game. After committing a crime in order to save his mother's life, he was arrested and included in the Inmate Player Program. Even without perception filters to limit his pain, it was better than the alternative. He has the opportunity to earn more money in a five-year sentence then he could have in his entire life as a hospital janitor.

Zee is jacked into Gygax, a high fantasy adventure game world, filled with knights, magic, and monsters. But Zee quickly learns that just because the world is virtual doesn't mean the danger isn't real. Can he find his fortune, perhaps a few allies, avoid the dangers of adventuring as an inmate, and unravel the mystery behind the game's confounding sentient computer program wearing a familiar face called "the doctor"?

if you're interested in gaming it might be more interesting, but as a non gamer it wasn't all that interesting. just a lot of getting into trouble and suddenly be able to pull it out with a skill or trait that was not mentioned before and old trivia from old movies that the main character just happened to recall Bing watching as a kid. I got it for free and was glad I did not spend any money on it.

it is Ok.

Combined 2 great books and got a fun book. If you enjoyed either of these books, you will like this.

This is a pleasant story of person forced to be in an immersion pod online because the bad corporations control everything. The story mirrors many books in this stereotyped genre. Same real life family circumstances, a hero with latent special powers, a snarky AI and a host of other basics. Half the book was leveling from level zero to level three by killing low level monsters and camping. I also am beginning to hate every time one of these audio books has to read every line on a "character sheet", "Watching" someone else make difficult decisions on assigning stat points to strength or wisdom is low level entertainment. Seasoned gamers, especially in the early years of gaming, have struggled leveling a new character with meaningless entry level quests and grinding hundreds of low level mobs. Hours of mind numbing tedium. Fortunately this book is only 11 hours long so you don't suffer too much,
