In perilous times, facts, expertise, and truth are indispensable. President Trump’s flagrant disregard for the truth and his self-aggrandizing exaggerations, specious misstatements, and bald-faced lies have been rigorously documented and debunked since the first day of his presidency by The Washington Post’s Fact Checker staff.
Donald Trump and His Assault on Truth is based on the only comprehensive compilation and analysis of the more than 16,000 fallacious statements that Trump has uttered since the day of his inauguration. He has repeated many of his most outrageous claims dozens or even hundreds of times as he has sought to bend reality to his political fantasy and personal whim.
Drawing on Trump’s tweets, press conferences, political rallies, and TV appearances, The Washington Post identifies his most frequently used misstatements, biggest whoppers, and most dangerous deceptions. This book unpacks his errant statements about the economy, immigration, the impeachment hearings, foreign policy, and, of critical concern now, the coronavirus crisis as it unfolded.
Fascinating, startling, and even grimly funny, Donald Trump and His Assault on Truth by The Washington Post is the essential, authoritative record of Trump’s shocking disregard for facts.

What's the old joke... "How do you know the president is lying?
"His mouth is open and words are coming out.
The WP takes his lies and debunks them, one by one. Necessarily they only had 16,000 lies to debunk, since this was apparently through the end of the impeachment trial, or maybe a month or two more. I believe, as I write this, he's up to 19,000 lies and working on his next 1000. The man is a lying machine. He certainly has one distinction. In the history of presidents, he is, by far, the biggest liar and bullsh*ter.
Trump has no grasp of reality, no relationship with any truth, and he is totally shameless about it. When confronted with something he has said that was a total lie, he will say "I didn't say that.". A reporter might answer that it is on tape, and yes, that is exactly what he said. He will shamelessly lie, "No, I didn't say that." And that's that for that.
If you're outraged by this president, or really, more importantly, if you think you like him, you should read this book. It will, hopefully, change your mind.
This is a wonderful piece of reporting on a president who simply lives in his own reality show, acts on some sort of impulse and then lies about what he's done and lies about lying about what he's done. It's just endless. This is a very important book.
Trump is lying again
