Named a Best Book of 2021 by Real Simple

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Behind Every Lie and The Night Olivia Fell comes an unforgettable and heart-wrenching novel about the lengths one woman will go to save her son.

Emma loves her life. She’s the mother of a precocious kindergartener, married to her soulmate—a loyal and loving police detective—and has a rewarding career as a doctor at the local hospital.

But everything comes crashing down when her son, Josh, is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Determined to save him, Emma makes the risky decision to sell opioids to fund the life-saving treatment he needs. But when somebody ends up dead, a lethal game of cat and mouse ensues, her own husband leading the chase. With her son’s life hanging in the balance, Emma is dragged into the dark world of drugs, lies, and murder. Will the truth catch up to her before she can save Josh?

A timely and moving exploration of a town gripped by the opioid epidemic, and featuring Christina McDonald’s signature “complex, emotionally intense” (Publishers Weekly) prose, Do No Harm examines whether the ends ever justify the means...even for a desperate mother.

It’s alright. I enjoyed her other works a lot more though. I don’t mind a protagonist that isn’t perfect but this one just wasn’t a great person. Narration was a bit robotic but not the worst I’ve endured. Just ok. Don’t start here if it’s your first time with this author.

Not bad but others are better

I don’t even know where to begin with this review!!!! I have been anticipating this book for soooooo long!!! Needless to say I was not disappointed, this book was filled with such a wonderful storyline. A story that hits so close to home as I am a nurse in the medical field and I see such sadness every single day as well. This book has a huge display of familial devotion, devotion to owns oath and the desire to be the best spouse, parent, career working person. As the reader you will become one with the characters, you will feel the happiness, the hardships, feel every single emotion that each and every character that you’re introduced to feels. I fell in love with the main male character and it felt like I really lost him myself when The events unfolded throughout this book. This book shows hoe dedication to ones family will cause even a person of good circumstances to do the crazy and unimaginable to protect the ones they love the most. From the first page Christina grabs you and has you hooked till the very end. This book was well worth the wait. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Wonderful, thrilling, heart capturing novel

I found the lead, a Dr to be a horrible, downright evil person who betrayed everyone in her life and somehow justified it in her own mind.

Lead character a horrible person

First, I did not like the narration. The woman's voice was so annoying. The plot line was just ok. This book could have had a lot of potential. But the characters were all unlikable. However, it was an unusual book with an unusual ending..

Not the Greatest

As a mother, we think we would do anything to save our children but Emma was responsible for her husband’s death and others. I do not like it that character was almost seeking sympathy at the end. I wanted her caught and her to go to jail!
