Cass finds out the hard way just how persistent a threat they face during the first stop on Vonda's book tour. As fans clamour for her autograph, things take an ugly turn when a mysterious fan shows up with flowers and slashes Ben with a knife. While her ex-partner's life hangs in the balance, Cass is left to find out what secrets Vonda is keeping, who might want her dead, and how she can bring Ben's attacker to justice before enemies in the Chicago Police Department try to stop her in her tracks.....

I love the evolution of the characters in these stories. Love the her and Ben remained just friends and the plot twist within the story.

Excellent story line and delivery. The characters were consistent with prior books and their situations made sense. I can’t wait for the next book!

Perfect Match of Story and Narrator

Author Tracy Clark's intrepid P. I., Cass Rains shines in this terrific police procedural, as much from the excellent narration as from the story. We see almost everything unfold through Cass's eyes, from the impromptu meeting with her former partner, Ben, to the indignities of working for an snooty diva, through the investigation, to the action scenes. I love listening to Cass's thoughts as she puzzles out the connections between the string of mysterious deaths, that seem to run through the media darling's personal history. Narrator Karen Chilton is the perfect voice for Cass.

Differentiating Characters

I enjoyed listening to the story. I enjoyed the plot. It kept me engaged. I liked the narrator's voice, however, her efforts at differentiating Characters was not good. They all sound the same. Who's Taking Now,!

realistic storyline

Liked that the plot kept me engaged I didn't getbored. I did not want it to end.
