NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the bestselling author of Dark Matter and the Wayward Pines trilogy comes a relentless thriller about time, identity, and memory—his most mind-boggling, irresistible work to date, and the inspiration for Shondaland’s upcoming Netflix film.

“Gloriously twisting . . . a heady campfire tale of a novel.”—The New York Times Book Review

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY Time • NPR • BookRiot

Reality is broken.

At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery—and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself.

In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth—and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery . . . and the tools for fighting back.

Together, Barry and Helena will have to confront their enemy—before they, and the world, are trapped in a loop of ever-growing chaos.

When I saw a new book by Blake Crouch was coming I pre-ordered without even reading the description. I knew it would be great. My first Crouch book was Pines and I loved everything about the series. I then read Run and Snowbound. When Dark Matter came out it was different and great and made you want more.

Recursion reminds me of Dark Matter but is so much better and Dark Matter was amazing. Every time I paused I was left looking forward to the next time I could listen. By the time I had reached the final hour I was beginning to think about listening to the book again, which I have never done.

There was one moment in the last 15 minutes that I thought the end of the book was going to be a disappointment but less than a minute later I understood and loved the ending.

This is a book you will not regret purchasing.

It's not just the recency of reading it either that's making me believe that statement. Dark Matter was amazing but struggled just a tad in the 3rd act. Pines was amazing too ofcourse but Recursion is, well, flawless. It's one of those rare stories that as soon as you finish you find yourself wishing you could go back in time and enjoy it for the first time again!

Honestly the best I've read in years

I actually really enjoyed this book. The ending dragged a little bit longer than I would have liked, and then the end of the epilogue was terrible. it just left me hanging

not a good ending

If you are used to military space opera future kind of stuff don't let this earthbound title put you off. I am that kind of person and was not sure this would work but it's got all the elements needed to create a world that easily met and surpassed my expectations.

ADD DIALOGUE TO THE LAST SCENE, PLEASE!!!!

Just like the title says, this book was creative, well written, and just scientifically accurate enough to convince me of the possibility that Blake Crouch knows TOO much about our biology. I loved this concept, and I hope there are alternate timelines around us now with history playing out in every which way.
