great science

no fluff. Real science. responsible author. useful insights. It was nice to finally read something about enhancing the brain that does not talk about cool ideas that are not realistic. This book talked about the realities of what is actually possible for enhancing learning and memory.

Awesome but missing the online component

A great overview of the brain as it relates to learning. Clearly backed up by firm scientific evidence with many tips for practical application in everyday life. I really enjoyed the clearly defined how-to approach presented by the authors. The only disappointment was as an Audible purchase you are unable to access the online digital assistant mentioned frequently throughout the book to help reinforce
the information. The only way to accomplish that is to purchase the book through Nightingale-Conant website or other source. It is approximately $69.00 to purchase.

Left me hanging

I thought the program at times gave valuable information on the specific topic being discussed. But other times you were left hanging because they never gave you the strategies to fix the problem they were discussing. For example in chapter 10 they talk about how you can stimulate your hippocampus because it shrinks as we get older. But they don’t give you any examples on how to do it?? This happened on a few occasions during the audio.

Snake Oil

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you believe everything on the internet then this book is for you. If you like hard facts that are not easily accessible with a 15 second google search, this book is for you. If you like bashing Doable Trump and believe that speculation and the opinion of the authors is fact, then read this.

What was most disappointing about Bruce Lewolt and Tony Alessandra ’s story?

They used words that imply uncertainly. Like Probably and the most current study… However, the most disappointing, is that there was no real facts and the little bit of information that was factual was nothing new. I have read all this stuff before, some more than 10 years ago. Then there are also plugs for his other products which are most likely just as bad.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was terrible. The voice slurred words and was not well dictated. The higher pitch of the voice was not easily likable. Finding someone with a deeper voice would have improved this book, to almost bearable.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This book sparked anger, if I could get my money back I would. It just goes to show you that if you have time, to write information, that is easily obtained and not original you can get people, to give you money. Book in a nut shell. Eat Healthy, Exercise, create an imaginary group of piers, Sleep and reduce stress and your mind will work better… Da..

Any additional comments?

When the author uses Thomas Edison as an example in one of the chapters more bad news is, to follow. As Edison was a con-artist that took credit for others inventions because he was wealthy, Nikola Tesla is the most famous example. Then bashing Doable Trump saying a Billionaire is completely wrong about his sleep habits goes, to show that the author doesn’t have billions and should do his research better.
