Clara receives a nutcracker from her godfather Drosselmeyer on Christmas Eve. That night she dreams the nutcracker is fighting with toy soldiers against the army of the Mouse King. This telling of the Nutcracker story is well tailored for young kids. some of the music is shared, helping develop familiarity before a trip to see the ballet live. Lovely added tradition to our holiday season.

I really enjoyed this audio play and as someone who is just discovering an enjoyment of ballet it was wonderful to hear the story dramatized with the music by Tchaikovsky.

For years I have been have been wanting to read the Nutcracker, specifically during the holidays. I just finished listening to it and I loved it. I liked it so much I will try listening to it with my son and try to follow along with the book.
