Good narrator!

I did get a bit bored at times with the atory itself. The narration, however, was well done and easy to listen to.

Great story but poor narration.

Would you try another book from Jules Verne and/or Peter Batchelor?

I have read and enjoyed many books by Jules Verne and I would love to read more of his writing.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was captivating and I enjoyed the main character's uncle.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator's voice was difficult hear and understand, further there were some moments when I could hear the narrator cough.

Do you think A Journey to the Center of the Earth needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It would be nice if the author was not dead... and in the center of the earth.

Classic science fiction

The science in this book is a little dated and tired, the book would have been better abridged for the modern reader. If you like 1800 flourish this is the book for you. I think Jules was trying to prove how smart he was. Still enjoyable if you let your imagination go.

Are We There Yet?

Fun adventure! However I think the narrative must have had a bigger impact when it was written in 1864 than it can have now in the age of TV and Special Effects. The imagery must have seemed more fanciful and impressed the reader much more back then than it possibly could do in the present day, still; I enjoyed the story enough to want to read more of Jules Verne’s works.

I was most particularly entertained by Axel’s character. I liked his attitude, his almost comedic interactions with his uncle and his slightly dry or stuffy personality, but his journey felt a little tedious at times. Yes, I know the book is about the journey but some passages describing the strange and wonderful new world they were discovering bored me. I just wanted them to get there already!!

Poor sound quality

This is a great story, the issue I had was with the sound quality. It tended to get very quiet and then loud, I was constantly turning the volume up and down. Also, it seemed to have been read very fast. I had to slow it down to 80% to enjoy it.
