Story
When German bombs set London ablaze, BBC radio correspondent Hugh Collingwood reports on the Blitz, eager to boost morale while walking the fine line between truth and censorship. But the Germans are not the only ones Londoners have to fear as a series of murders flame up amid the ashes. The deaths hit close to home for Hugh, and Aleida needs his help to locate her missing son. As they work together, they grow closer and closer, both to each other and the answers they seek. But with bombs falling and continued killings, they may be running out of time.

Vivienne Rivard fled revolutionary France and seeks a new life for herself and a boy in her care, who some say is the Dauphin. But America is far from safe, as militiaman Liam Delaney knows. He proudly served in the American Revolution but is less sure of his role in the Whiskey Rebellion. Drawn together, will Liam and Vivienne find the peace they long for? Lacemaker Vivienne Rivard never imagined her craft could threaten her life. Yet in revolutionary France, it is a death sentence when the nobility, and those associated with them, are forced to the guillotine. Vivienne flees to Philadelphia but finds the same dangers lurking in the French Quarter.

Story
Richard Peck is a master of stories about people in transition, but perhaps never before has he told a tale of such dramatic change as this one, set during the first year of the Civil War. The whole country is changing in 1861, even the folks from a muddy little Illinois settlement on the banks of the Mississippi. Here, 15-year-old Tilly Pruitt frets over the fact that her brother is dreaming of being a soldier and that her sister is prone to supernatural visions.

Very well done Civil War novel
I really enjoyed listening to this latest Civil War novel by Joselyn Green. She does her research well and brings it alive in the story so you really feel like you are experiencing it for yourself. Good characterization and the narrator was also very good with handling a number of accents. Well done. Highly recommend.

A heartfelt civil war love story
Jocelyn Green brings her characters to life with her well-written stories and this one is no exception. The narrators took it up another notch and made me feel like I was there with Cora Mae, June, and Ethan as they grew to understand and love each other, as well as show love to their enemies. And I always learn new things with her rich historical details. Thank you for releasing an audio version of this story!

Thoroughly Enjoyable Listen!
What an impactful storyline written about a time during the Civil War that many of us have never heard about! I was immediately hooked with the characters of the book as well as narrators. Jocelyn Green never fails to provide the best Christian historical fiction!
