Publisher's summary

If Lady Arabella Winslett was left to her own devices, she would happily paint each day away and want for nothing else. Unfortunately, her grandfather has other plans for her future, plans that involve marrying her off to her horrid cousin and sending Bella far away. Only a quick betrothal to someone else will save her from that unhappy fate. But with time ticking by, it would take a miracle to bring anyone up to scratch...If only someone could be convinced to play the role of her intended for just a little while.

Jaded Gregory, Baron Avery, lives with more than a few regrets and no way to atone for his past. Though, when his sister stumbles upon a lady in desperate need of a temporary fiancé, she suggests that Greg play the part in an attempt to help him find the peace he's been missing. However, once the beautiful Bella enters his life, peace is the furthest thing from Greg's mind. But their betrothal wasn't supposed to be permanent, and she deserves someone much more honorable than him.

She wants and need, he won't but they will.

Stevie Zimmerman as usual does a heck of a good job.
Like this series.
This book was hard to follow in the beginning the names of the ladies almost all ended with the same syllable had to pay really attention. Liked the way Bella & Gregory played the game and got caught in it.
Liked how with the help of his friends they get away. But I would of liked to know what came of the grand father and the beasty cousin (did they get what was their due ...

OK book. Fabulous narration..

This was an OK story. I liked Greg and Bella, and the storyline was good but it did seem to drag here and there. And there were things that really didn’t have to be in the story. Like Johann! Unless the author just wanted to insert a jerk in the story for a minute or two. I mean, what happen to him? And that mean old grandfather? Most importantly, what happened to Prissa AND Elliot? Bella’s own brother and sister and as soon as she runs off to marry Greg they just disappeared from the book? Even near the end years had passed but nothing was said about any of the family she left in London, and she had loved her brother and sister so I thought that was kind of strange.

Like I said, this was an ok story: Bella needs a pretend fiancé, so she doesn’t have to marry her awful cousin Johann, and Cordie worries about her brother Greg’s happiness so she convinces him to ask for Bella’s hand until Johann goes back to Prussia and then Bella will cry-off. But Bella and Greg fall in love, and the sweet adventure begins.

There was a sex scene at about 85% so those of you who don’t like sex in your books don’t have to worry about the story being full of sex. And there was no terrible swearing.

As to the narration: Stevie Zimmerman is fantastic. One of my favorites. Her voices and emotions are spot on.

Never fail!

These two never fail to write and perform a scrumptious book! There we so many teasers and spin off spots that my mind fairly reels with the details of it all..... yummy.

Fabulous Narration

What made the experience of listening to A Scandalous Ruse the most enjoyable?

Once again, Stevie Zimmerman makes each character come to life. Her voice deliciously portrays both female and male characters exquisitely.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Scandalous Ruse?

When Greg proposes to Bella, every heartfelt emotion can be heard in Stevie's voice.

Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmerman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have many of Stevie's narrations in my library and this is one of the best performed by her.
