Wonderfully entertaining
This is a great book that I originally read but the narration passed my wildest dreams of what it could be. Bill Bryson can take any topic and make it interesting and this is a prime example of that. Obscure science facts and anecdotes that I could listen to over and over again and have. #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

A great overview of natural history.
I read A Short History a few years ago and it was a pleasure to re-read it in audiobook format. Richard Matthews does a tremendous job keeping the pace of the narrative fresh and I can only recommended to anyone wishing to find out how we found out things about the Earth and its - and ours - history.

The book is a fun listen. It covers lots of categories which are truly universal and of importance to all - although many would not initially be thought of as "history". It has many interesting anecdotes about important knowledge and the performance by Richard Matthews in delivering the often tongue in cheek prose from Bryson is just wonderful.

Bill Bry the Science Guy
This book covers Science in detail. Bill Bryson is a great writer and takes what could be Dull issues and makes them fun. Be prepared to learn a lot. There are many interesting stories to flesh out the topics.
