Toby Liberman is nearing the end of his rope. After a fateful confrontation with his wife's lover, he is chased into the woods only to be attacked and rendered unconscious. Waking at the scene of a gruesome triple homicide, Toby is arrested as the sole suspect and thrown in jail with a strange man who has too much information about Toby's predicament. He reveals to Toby that he possesses the curse of the werewolf. Using his new-found strength to flee his captors, Toby begins to discover that things are not what they seem in the sleepy town of Twin Oaks, TX. Now hunted by law enforcement and the local inhabitants, Toby seeks vengeance against his false accusers and embarks upon a quest to clear his name once and for all. Everything Toby knew in life begins to crash down around him. Toby isn't the only person in town with dark secrets. The ancient legend of the werewolf comes to life...with a Texas twist.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Great new twist on the werewolf story
"A Taste of Home" is an entertaining twist on an old story. The writer gives you characters that anyone can relate with. And Twin Oaks is just like any number of small towns where life can be just a little f'd up. It is a story of normal life events that many people go through and that we all feel it takes extraordinary power to make it through to the other side. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters in the book. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who was who and who would come out on top. I look forward to sinking my teeth into the next installment.

Great Werewolf Fun
This is the third time I have visited this little East Texas town. The first two were in print and on the Kindle. This Audible version was a great treat. I loved the story and characters already, but the narrator added a fresh easy pace to the story. Mr Heathcock's freshman offering was comparable to many seasoned narration veterans. I have listened to over 100 books of all genres so I have the experiance to say this.
If you love horror and want something compelling and different, this is your book. I absolutely love this story and the characters. My only complaint is that I wish Mr. Miller would hurry up and let us know what the future holds for Katie Liberman and the rest of Twin Oaks Texas. I will be expectantly waiting for the next installment and Mr Heathcock's next performance.

The Narrator Rocks
What did you love best about A Taste of Home?
Hearing my work being read to me for the first time.
What did you like best about this story?
The Narrator
What does Jesse Heathcock bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The essence of Texas
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes...the hero IS the horror
Any additional comments?
I am the author of this book so I'm not going to speak about the story and stroke my own ego. I will speak of the narrator though. When we were putting this project together, my agent wanted it to sound Texan. Authentic, but not over the top or exaggerated. After listening to 20 different people reading the sample chapter, this guy stood out among all the rest. This was his first narration gig and he nailed it. This was also my first time listing to an audio book and I was impressed by how enjoyable the experience is. I am not giving 5 stars to the story because it would be a douche move for the author to do so...but the narrator has a wonderful hobby/career in front of him. I'm sure of it.

A best seller
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I was not sure what to expect when I picked this book. I was looking for something new to break the mundane and I found it! After the 1st chapter I determined sleep was not an option. I could not turn it off. I loved the audio because it allowed me to close my eyes and see the scenes unfold.
It makes you wonder just what is hiding in our East Texas town.

Brilliant!!
If you could sum up A Taste of Home in three words, what would they be?
Worth every minute
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, there were many twists and turns. Not like the usual, predictable paranormal literature.
What does Jesse Heathcock bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This is the first time I've heard this narrator. I'm impressed
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The author's ability to make you feel empathy for the characters is impeccable.
Any additional comments?
I am blown away not only by the break out narrator but also by the sterling talent of Mr. Miller. His flair at weaving a complex story line full of intrigue left me completely breathless. Anyone who has lived in a small town will certainly relate to the descriptive and often comical chronicles. Complete disclosure –I only purchased this audio book to support a local author, so imagine the treat in finding this was truly a diamond in the rough. When will the next one be out?!?!

Amazing story
This is a great book. The detailed descriptions help you to "see" the town of Twin Oaks and feel that you know the characters. It is easy to feel empathy with the main characters. The author has a way of making the impossible actually seem plausible as you listen to the story and keeps you guessing at what might happen next.
The narrator does an awesome job, reading with a clear voice and perfect inflection to help you picture the story as you listen.

Love this book
Would you listen to A Taste of Home again? Why?
Yes I would. Just hearing it made it come to life.
What other book might you compare A Taste of Home to and why?
None because I love all of C Derick Miller's books.
Which scene was your favorite?
All of them. This book had me on edge with every chapter.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The best thing out there.
Any additional comments?
C Derick Miller is a wonderful writer. I already had the book but hearing it brought it to life. I have the known that writer for years and have gotten to read his other books and I can't wait for the next one. Keep up the great wonderful work you do.
