About this listen

A twelve-stage sleigh ride through the best, worst, strangest and funniest parts of Christmas.

With cultural icons saluted, national habits dissected and personal reminiscences from those who’ve eaten all the mince pies and lived to tell the tale.

The essential Christmas stocking filler for anyone who’s ever spent their christmas on a deflating air bed in their parents’ spare room, wedged up against the washing machine come Christmas Eve and wondering why this Christmas, just like every year, doesn’t look like the ones on the telly.

The humor in everything

Christmas is stressful for some, stress free for others and downright challenging at the best of times for all. The individual anecdotes are absolutely captivating and relatable—even for Americans.

That’s what this book showed me.

But what it taught me is a lot more important.

What it taught me was that it is one day on the calendar that we all handle differently. It made me more appreciate the season for all its finery and flaws. Respecting cultural traditions, appreciating friend, family and friends that are family, its importance in our societal structure and the acceptance/love for others is the best lesson of the Season.

And that makes it a pretty damn good book.

Great Christmas Fun

This was extremely entertaining and very insightful about how the UK celebrates Christmas. Showing that everything isn't perfect from on family to the next.

I really need Christmas in July right now.

I usually wait for November 1st to start listening to this during what I consider The Holiday Season (Nov 1 - Jan 8), but this American needs this now.

Depressing

Bought it thinking it would be a classic book of stories to uplift the spirit. Instead, it is a compilation of depressing stories . Couldn’t even finish this piece of trash
