About this listen

Her entire life, Harlow has been the cuckoo in another bird's nest. With an unreliable junkie for a mother and an unknown father, her foster family, the kind, successful, and generous Bostons, are the brightest spot in her life.

But even with a foster family like Harlow's, there are some things money can't buy - like the ability to fit in with the shallow socialites who act like her lack of pedigree is contagious.

Now that she's finished college and her veterinary degree, Harlow's life was supposed to take off. She was supposed to get a job and create a life away from the petty drama of the wealthy elite.

But when her mother dies and a life-changing secret is revealed, Harlow finds herself flying across the country to face an uncertain future that Kai, Holden, Jaxon, Thomas, Jacinta, Declan, and Oliver are going to make sure she won't accept.

Contains mature themes.

Wonderful Book

I've read the book and it was nice to hear the narrators bring the characters to life.

Great read

I thought that the pacing of the story was a bit weird. But overall I loved the story! Samantha Summers and Curt Bonnem did an amazing job making the characters come alive! At times I want to jump in a slap some characters. Would recommend.

Like a high school soap opera

I actually got caught up in the story, but it reads like a high school soap opera. Hard to believe the characters are in their mid twenties and up. The narrator isn't the worst, but it's a bit like William Shatner reading a romance. The story kept my interest, though, and I bought the next one.

Overall a fantastic series

This first book is a lot of plot building, tension, and angst. You learn about the FMC, Harlow, and see how much of a bad A she is. She is resilient and takes no crap, although she does get a lot piled on. You learn about the other characters as the series goes on, so like Brad, Poppy, and Nana beg Harlow, just give them a chance! You'll love them and the series.

good storyline

I’m enjoying the story but I’m wishing I was reading it myself. The pausing in narration is really annoying

Love the book, hate most of the characters except Harlow.

There is a slight issue with breathsounds and muffling in the audio of this book, but otherwise the narration is great. The main character is likeable and easy to care for, but most of the love interests and other characters, minus her grandparents, foster family, and the animals, are easy to hate, but it's written so you enjoy hating them.

Lexie Makes Slow Burn Easy to Read

Abandoned Girl is a wonderful book with lots of interesting characters. We only get to really know a few of them in book one, but they all have depth and painful pasts that help them all understand each other a bit better.

This book really tears at your emotions. You want to love the adopted children of Brad, but they do make it difficult.

Off to listen to book 2. So I highly recommend that you start this one and catch up with me; because you don’t want to miss out on any of this series.
