Margolin Lite
I have read several titles by Phillip Margolin and was disappointed in After Dark. The plot was too predictable and at times I felt like I was reading a romance novel instead of a legal mystery. I was not drawn into this story at all.

STUNNING!
It reads like a course in criminal law. It’s complex, riveting, suspenseful. There’s no way to see the end that’s coming; always misleading as the plot ebbs and flows. Totally absorbing.

Interesting legal thriller
After Dark was first released over 20 years ago. The novel is filled with twists and turns; nothing is as it seems to be. In my opinion the multiple twists near the end of the novel are a bit too much; the final ones detract from the novel. Still, After Dark is an excellent legal thriller. I like Margolin's recent novels more.
In past reviews I have repeatedly complained about the whiny voice of narrator Angela Dawe and have given her narrations 1 star on several occasions. Dawe does a great job narrating After Dark; the whiny voice is not present.

Phillip, YOU have a new FAN
Would you listen to After Dark again? Why?
Oh yes to catch all the clues I had missed. This is not my usual genre. I am a romance listener and this story has a underlying romance so it was a great listen. ROMANCE listeners take note. THIS is a do not miss as it has everything to leave you with, a WOW feeling.
What did you like best about this story?
Ok, I am on an Angela Dawes run. Warning, it takes a bit to get use to her female voice, but she does a knock out job on the males voices that I have purchased over 10 listens on this last holiday sale, including this book. Oh what a great find this was. I love Jonathan Davis, Sandra brown's Mean Streak, so next P.M. Book will be a J.D. Read. Don't miss Mean Streak if you like BOTH romance and mystery.

This one did make me cry! Good over good, that is the question! This story proves doing the right thing can hurt your soul.

Do not be put off by the few reviews that this book had. NOW, if you are a John LeCarre fan or a hard core Michael Connely fan, this may not be for you. This was pure entertainment and a mystery that kept me glued to the listen.

One of His best
I have read about 5 or 6 of Phillip Margolin books. So far this has been my favorite. I know I have a good book when I get in the car and say, oh boy, I get to listen to my book.
