About this listen
An adventurous vacationing couple wanders into an apparently empty unmapped section of backwoods South Carolina and gets lost when their GPS unexpectedly fails. They happen upon an enigmatic old black horse-cart driver named Owen who gives them not only directions to the highway, but also a cryptic warning to stay away from Longpoke Road.
Zach is an investigative reporter with a disarming manner that gets people to open up. Before long, a friendship forms and Chester reveals his late wife was murdered by the KKK for attempting to end centuries of local racism at her private liberal arts school. More probing leads to troubling links between the mysterious area they just drove through and the long-lost family of Chester’s best friend. It all seems tied to a dangerous meth-dealing Klan leader who runs a seedy barbecue joint in the next town.
Chloe suddenly fears their recent trespassing may have put Owen’s life at risk. As more disturbing pieces fall into place, Zach suspects the old man is not the only one in danger and that the situation is far worse than first imagined. Further investigation reveals that Longpoke Road hides a vast criminal enterprise, which likely includes slavery. But even that pales in comparison to the reality they will confront.
When the dust settles, Zach, Chloe, Chester, and Annie find their lives forever changed and entangled in ways that leave them all questioning what happened and who they really are.

Wonderful story
The story grabs your attention right away and keeps it throughout the book. The plot was fascinating, centered on racism, and the courageous battle against it by the main characters. The characters were all well developed and I found myself cheering them on as the story continued. When I was finished with the audio book I found myself wanting more.

Ain't No White Men Review
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and the narration of Ain't No White Men because the book contains a great plot concerning the war on racism and several subplots that mix traveling through the south and the nuances people face when meeting others from various cultures, different classes, and disparities in income. Bob weaves a very plausible story of a couple getting lost in the back woods of South Carolina and coming across vibrant, rural characters that the couple would never meet where they live in Naples, Florida. As a result, they find themselves deep in an adventure that changes their lives and the lives of their new-found friends forever.
As the author tells his story, he is weaving historical events that have had an impact on our country. For example, I learned much about the American constitution and the history of the Second Amendment. In addition, the book reminds us that America is still dealing with impacts of slavery, that racism is still a major problem in our democratic society, and that we still have much more to accomplish to meet the goals of the constitution, "to form a more perfect Union,"
Despite the profound message the book explores, the story is easy to read because there is a variety of interesting people and a lot of action that keeps the reader engaged in the book. In addition, Rich Regan does a great job as a narrator. He has a wonderful voice and he has the ability to change his voice effortlessly to reflect the various characters in the story.
I also recommend that you read Bob's book. "Ain't No Black Men".

Riveting story, relatable characters, scary twist!
Ain't No White Men by Bob Iverson is one of those books you want to just keep on listening to to find out what happens next. The subject matter is riveting and the plot has some twists and turns that hook you. The main characters are relatable and they make you feel like their story could happen to you too! It's a cautionary tale for sure! Give it a listen, you won't regret it!

A fantastic novel - highly recommended
"Ain't No White Men" by Bob Iverson is a compelling and thought-provoking novel that captivated me from the very first page. The book is a powerful exploration of race, identity, and survival, set in a dystopian world where the absence of white men forces society to confront deep-seated issues of power and privilege.
Iverson's writing is both vivid and nuanced, painting a detailed picture of a world transformed by the sudden disappearance of a dominant demographic. The characters are richly developed, each grappling with their own complexities and evolving perspectives in a society that is rapidly changing.
What I found most impressive is Iverson's ability to tackle difficult themes with sensitivity and insight, creating a narrative that is both engaging and challenging. The book encourages readers to reflect on the nature of power dynamics and the often unexamined privileges that exist in our own world.
The pacing of the story is perfect, keeping me engaged throughout with its unexpected twists and turns. Iverson doesn't shy away from addressing uncomfortable truths, but he does so in a way that is thought-provoking rather than preachy.
Overall, "Ain't No White Men" is a must-read for anyone interested in literature that challenges societal norms and prompts deep reflection. Bob Iverson has crafted a story that is not only timely but also timeless in its exploration of human nature and social structures. Highly recommended!

Suspense, surprises, slavery
Its vivid and imaginative descriptions and characterizations of the brutality and cruelty of slavery and its effects on past and present southern culture in the United States delivers a powerful message. It reads like a detective story, full of twists and turns, with many humanizing details. The author’s point of view is evident.

Riveting novel
When I picked up this book, I was not expecting such a riveting novel. It starts with a young investigative reporter and his wife who want a get-a-way for a few days. Their GPS fails and they find themselves on the backroads of the Deep South. Their innocent, disarming and inquisitive personalities leads them into unimaginable parts of the south that were thought to be in our historical past. They encounter some incredible characters with captivating stories. These stories though separate tie together into a fast-moving historical mystery that you can’t put down. They begin to realize they have stumbled onto something that needs to be controlled. They consider contacting the FBI but realize they don't have adequate evidence and would be rebuffed. Consequently, with time running out, they cobble together an unlikely group to unravel this unknown mystery. The operation uncovers even more of the hidden mysteries of that part of the country.
