About this listen

When a beautiful bear shifter and a sexy fireman come together, the holidays get ho ho hot!

The brilliant bear shifter Donna Mechka has spent her life trying to live up to her wealthy family's expectations. When a human ex-firefighter, Dean, walks into the lobby of her hotel on Christmas Eve, it seems she might have found the man of her dreams. But when Dean's investigations bring him closer to discovering the hotel's magical secrets, Donna must decide which is more important: her career or her budding love.

Dean Michaelson once loved Christmas, but no longer. When his new job as a fire inspector takes him to the ice hotel where Donna works, he fears he's stumbled upon a nuclear deathtrap. When he suspects the lusciously curvy manager, Donna, is hiding the truth, Dean has no choice but to investigate on his own, unaware he is entering an underworld of danger and magic. Will the attraction building between Dean and Donna be extinguished before it has a chance to spark?

Narrator ruins this 2/3 into chapter 2

It was so nice and fun with all of the cute magic ideas and characters, before it hit the sex scene in chapter 2. After that it got cringingly bad. Then after the whole ahem stuff was over it went back to the previous narration (which is not very good). If I reread this, or any other narrated by Lusk, I will prob move to kindle and text-to-speech.

Nice story - terrible narrator

This book has a nice story but would have been so much better with a different narrator. I received this free copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Series goes out with a bang...or a burn...

Alpha's Christmas Flame is the final book in the series, but it can easily stand on its own. I really enjoyed all four books in the series, but this was my favorite. The two main characters, Dean and Donna fall in lust over a day of dealing with the challenges of working at a hotel with magical guests. Dean is a fire fighter assigned to inspection duties due to an injured back, and he meets Donna, a bear shifter, when he inspects the hotel at which she works. Donna tries to keep Dean from finding out about the magical nature of the hotel and the guests, and this leads to some pretty hilarious situations. Although the chemistry between the two is immediate and strong, they grow to deeply care about each other as they share much about their lives and personalities throughout this day of challenges.

Audrey Lusk does a good job with the narration. While I do not always enjoy her narration, I thought this was one of her better jobs. Her tone and emotion level were perfect for the story, and she did a good job of differentiating between the characters.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Fun couple

Dean and Donna what a fun couple they are. Dean suffering from an injury has been sent to do the annual fire check at the ice hotel, where Donna is acting as manager whilst Ben and Sally are on holidays. But Dean goes for a wander and then finds himself trying to save a person from a fire. Let’s say it was an awesome happing ending. But I’m now curious about Lola I’d really love to know more about her.
Audrey did a great job with the narrating.

More fizzle than sizzle

The first 1.5 hrs of this played like a cozy paranormal mystery caper with bear shifter Donna going through hijinks to convince human fire inspector Dean that “these aren’t the droids you’re looking for”
as he attempts to determine the cause of a fire. It was mildly interesting and a little fun.

The last twenty minutes felt jarring as the cute story turned graphic and the couple gets it on, in three different scenes in quick succession. Well, that explains why it wasn’t a cartoon cover. I didn’t find the narrator’s male voicing to be very sexy. That, combined with sex that came out of nowhere, and the fact that Christmas barely signified made this a dud for me.
