Ten years ago a man with a grudge took the lives of innocent Amish children, and forever changed the lives of the rest.
The Cook family continues to heal from the loss of their youngest in a school shooting a decade ago. The family copes in different ways, but for Sam, his aloofness persists in the face of guilt he feels from surviving when his sister didn’t.
As the siblings grow, they each discover who they are, who they love, and how they continue to live for family and faith. For Sam, it’s the love of taking care of his sister Jesse, the newest to be born since the shooting those many years ago. Having Downs Syndrome, she’s an angel who just knows how to pull people together.
For Jesse brings a special ability; a happiness to unite others.
For one sibling, it’s a chance meeting that will bring fate full circle after many, many years. For another, she prompts a discovery that leads to a much-needed look into another sibling’s marriage, and the challenges and dangers from temptation stemming from hurt, pain and inability to have children of her own.
The Cook family knows trial, but they also know family. And when you have faith and family, God can move mountains. And love can be found in even the darkest of life’s troubles.
