About this listen

A fake relationship with a stranger. An office romance with doughnuts and white knights. An addictive arrangement - friends with benefits - fast turns to love.

Jonah Gray is rich, successful, and the most eligible bachelor in the city, according to his mother, at least. But the truth is, despite her efforts to pair him off, he’s fine on his own. All he needs is a date to the Christmas ball.

Sacha Ivanov is a lone wolf, content with the cycle of long days, late nights, and anonymous hook-ups, but when a chance encounter in a broken-down lift brings a gorgeous copper-haired CEO into his life, everything begins to change.

As Christmas fast approaches, a favor for a stranger blooms into something more. He doesn’t do second dates or relationships. But for kind-hearted Jonah, his angel in the city, he might just change his mind.

Angels in the City is a Christmas-themed MM friends-to-lovers, forced-proximity office romance. Expect fraught days, steamy nights, and true love built around festive snacks and Christmas trees.

Jonah and Sacha

Sweet, adorable and steamy at times. Jonah CEO of his company, isn't looking forward to the Christmas Ball. When leaving work he gets stuck in an Elevator with Sacha a stranger, but they have plenty to talk about and Jonah offers Sacha Canapes at the Ball so he won't be alone. They pretend that they are a couple for Jonahs mum.Alter 4.5hrs they go back to Jonahs for 1 steamy night. 1 and done doesn't stay that way, they decide Friends with benefits is the way to go. Again that changes to lovers. Dan does a brilliant job with hid Russian accent. Highly recommend

Super Steamy

Very steamy and low-mid level angst. Well written and narrated. Wished it was longer or that there was a 2nd book.

Sweet love story

CEO Jonah Gray wants more than the blind dates his parents try to foist off on him but he's not prepared to find his true love in a stalled elevator on his way to the Christmas ball. And as he needs a date to the party and the mysterious Sacha Ivanov volunteers, where's the harm in a little deception if it will keep his parents off his back? Their attraction is unexpected and skyrockets pretty quickly, but each of them has to learn to trust the other as well as to give up his fear of failure in the relationship department before they can both reach their HEA. The emotional struggles are real, the physical connection is fiery hot, and the love is enduring. Dan Calley's performance of the main characters is on point and I like how he is able to evoke a Russian speaking English so brilliantly. However, I find his overall delivery, when he's not voicing the two main characters, to be surprisingly monotone and quite dissatisfying.

Another great Christmas storu

I just love this author’s books. Her characters are so well written and I just get sucked into the stories. I listened to this one in one sitting. Jonah is tired of the societal role his parents expect him to play and just wants to escape. A chance meeting in the lift at his office leads to a fake date for the fancy party he is supposed to attend. Sasha fits right into the role easily but their connection leads to more than just a fake date arrangement. I also loved the narrator. I got lost listening to him and it made the entire story go by way to quickly!

Sweet and Steamy Christmas Story

This was the perfect audiobook to begin my Christmas/Winter story binge. I absolutely loved Jonah and Sacha. Garrett Leigh does a wonderful job writing stories with character development, and that go at a good pace. Dan Calley did an amazing job narrating. All of the characters had a distinct voice; especially, Jonah and Sacha. I was impressed with their voices. I wish there was an epilogue. I love when there's one.

It All Started in the Elevator!

When Jonah and Sacha get stuck in an elevator, they end up talking quite a bit. They both agree to a fake relationship to please Jonah’s parents and they attend his family’s lavish Christmas ball together.

Sacha is the broody type that quietly observes and misses nothing. He sees how uncomfortable Jonah is with certain people and saves him from awkwardness. They have a fabulous one night stand that eventually turns into a friends with benefits. Jonah wants more but feels that Sacha only wants sex since he’s too busy with work for anything else. Sacha is hot and cold and is having a hard time trying to figure out how Jonah Gray fits into his life.

I loved the Christmas themed story and the narration was great!

A Tender & Sweet Holiday Listen

This is such a remarkably light offering from Garrett Leigh! I always love the often gritty, real-life struggles, strength, and depth of her characters... so I was quite surprised by this book. It's incredibly easy on the angst with just enough uncertainty between the main characters to delight you. I greatly enjoyed the sweet and tender connection shared between Sacha and Jonah. It's a truly wonderful holiday story of how these two lonely hearts find one another.

I read this book when it was originally released and had to immediately grab the newly released audio version! Dan Calley never disappoints - his narration is always superb!!
4 stars for the story ... 5 stars for the narration !!

Leigh and Calley score another winner!

Angels in the City is the newest audiobook from Garrett Leigh, and she's once again tapped Dan Calley as her narrator. Full disclosure: I'm not a huge fan of the fake relationship trope. So naturally, there may have been a tinge of apprehension on my end when I saw that the main characters in this story play up being in a relationship even though they'd barely met while stuck in an elevator prior to one agreeing to attend a charity ball with the other. But this author has, more often than not, managed to suck me in with her writing, and she succeeds swimmingly with this! Add to that some impressive narration, and I was a happy camper, enjoying the heck out of this audiobook during the nearly six hours I spent listening to it.

Jonah Gray (26) and Sacha Ivanov (28) were a study in contrasts, yet theirs was a connection that was both irresistible and undeniable. Between the two, Sacha was the more complex man, what with his being rather more closed off, but it took someone like Jonah to slowly chip away at his proverbial defenses in order for listeners to see that there was more to him than meets the eye. There's romance and there's angst, and having read and listened to more than my share of Garrett Leigh-penned stories, I've come to expect quality writing in the implementation of the two elements. Dan Calley ably brings these two men to life, handling Sacha's Russian accent quite nicely. Angels in the City easily gets an overall rating of five stars.
