About this listen

Two police officers are about to head home after a long night shift when they receive one last call. En route to investigate, the patrol car spins off the road, killing one of the exhausted cops and leaving the other in critical condition. Detective Peter Diamond is assigned to look into the case. His supervisor is desperately hoping Diamond will not discover the officers were at fault. Instead Diamond discovers something even worse - a civilian on a motorized tricycle was involved in the crash and has been lying on the side of the road for hours. Diamond administers CPR, but the man's fate is unclear.

Diamond becomes suspicious of the civilian victim and begins a private inquiry that leads to a trail of uninvestigated deaths. As the man lingers on life support, Diamond must wrestle with the fact that he may have saved the life of a serial killer.

A bit confusing but clever

I love Simon Preble and always enjoy his narration. The story was a little more convoluted than other Peter Diamond books but it was very cleverly done and demonstrated that, indeed, sometimes older is wiser.

Best ending yet for a Lovesey novel...

I have been a Peter Diamond / Simon Prebble (specifically) audio book fan for some time. I did not listen to these great books in sequence, but it didn't matter. They are all excellent. However, Lovesay writes the best ending to all of his mysteries here.
You will NOT be disappointed and as usual, Prebble is the voice Master bringing every character to life. A+

Who is Hornsby?

This recorded book is worth your time and money. The reader gets better aquainted with Peter Diamond's crew, and with the exception of some unneeded twists, a compelling mystery. The storyline teaches a few worthwhile lessons about: how being oblivious can morph into suspicion; emotions triggered by touch; and trusting people who
project an apparently pleasing personality.

Who is Hornsby? That's an interesting tale.

Great Story. Classic Peter Diamond at his best!!

Peter Lovesey and Simon Prebble make an incredible team. Lovesey’s ability to summon the best out of his characters to draw you in is at its best in Another One Goes Tonight: Peter Diamond. Brilliant!!

I’ve just discovered Peter Lovesey

I’ve read three randomly in the Peter Diamond series and have enjoyed all of them. Simon Prebble is a marvelous performer and brings the Inspector to life. I can’t wait o try another in this series.

Intricate plot filled with character

Loved the weaving in of developed characters and their histories. With the concentration of older characters - lots of history to weave in…meshing with Diamond’s history adds a humanity. Misdirection and questioning assumptions from all of the investigative team makes great interactions. Great work.

Lovesey continues his entertaining series with an intriguing story and Peter Diamond’s engaging and sometimes prickly personality. Another winner.

Never a Dull Moment!

I’ve fallen in love with Peter Diamond. Thanks to Peter Lovesey for creating such a marvelous character and to Simon Prebble for bringing him to life. Just as with other Diamond stories, this one weaves an interesting story with interesting historical details to emerge with a clever plot.
