About this listen

What if Belle's mother cursed the Beast? As Old as Time is the third book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways.

When Belle touches the Beast's enchanted rose, memories flood through Belle's mind - memories of a mother she thought she would never see again. And, stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful enchantress who cursed the castle and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast will have to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is 21 years in the making.

Surprised me that I liked it

It surprised me that I ended up liking it decently enough. At first, it seemed to drag on to get to the point. But, once there, it became a little thriller. I liked the middle of the book very much. The end was definitely "twisted" in a way. But, I wish it ended less cheesy and more fairytale story like.
I think it would be a great next read, unless you have something else you know you'll enjoy more. It's good enough to pull up when you don't have other things to read.
Narrator was great.

A book to escape reality.

I highly enjoyed As Old as Time. The author wrote the story beautifully, I felt like I was in the story because of how detailed it was. Being able read the thoughts and emotions of the characters brought this book to life. I loved how in depth the story got with belle’s mother including the plot! I’ve slowly started to read again this year due to covid-19 which now I have time to spare and let me tell you something... I finished this book in three bloody days!

Very Good

I give this book four stars
I liked this book because it was an exiting twist that Liz Braswell has come up with but on some parts of the book I did get a little lost but besides that it was an amazing story and I recommend this to middle aged children ( because some of the content can be inappropriate for small children I loved this book and it had me on my toes and I thought the author did a very good job on this book!

Enjoyable (after a few chapters)

It took me about 4 or 5 chapters to get truly interested in the story. Also, the narrators voice was a little extra calm, sometimes it made me sleepy. But, none the less, I'm very happy with the story.

Why does the Beast have no name?

I loved this story except for one glaring detail... why did Belle never ask for the Beast's name?! It seems so strange to me that when they started to become more friendly that she never asked his name. Even if the author didn't want to reveal that information, a line saying that the Beast didn't want to use his human name in that form would have at least provided a reason as to why we never get that information. But for Belle to just not ask has always bothered me (even with the movie and play versions). I'm supposed to believe that she loves him but never bothered to ask his name? Come on.

Bland

I liked how Belle has more character rather than just reading and playing damsel in distress.

Nice

Not so much the twist but the story as a whole was great. Gave some new perspectives that you didn't think about in the original story that you grow up with.
