Publisher's summary

"Who is John Galt?" is the immortal question posed at the beginning of Ayn Rand's masterpiece. The answer is the astonishing story of a man who said he would stop the motor of the world and did.

As passionate as it is profound, Atlas Shrugged is one of the most influential novels of our time. In it, Rand dramatizes the main tenets of objectivism, her philosophy of rational selfishness. She explores the ramifications of her radical thinking in a world that penalizes human intelligence and integrity.

Part mystery, part thriller, part philosphical inquiry, part volatile love affair, Atlas Shrugged is the book that confirmed Ayn Rand as one of the most popular novelists and most respected thinkers of the 20th century.

Good story

It was a solid story but took a long time to get going. Would recommend it but not my favorite.

Dramatic classic must read

This is a dramatic classic who’s author has ties to a communist country foreseeing what will happen someday to the United States whose citizens largely adopts a philosophy of victimhood and altruism, The concept of John Galt (a producer) shrugging and leaving the corrupt philosophy to survive on its own and fail.

The Story of Today written in 1957

There are few works of literature which speak to humanity and its survival like Atlas Shrugged. This is one book a well educated person must read.

Wonderful way to finish

I could not put the book down until I was 1/2 way done with the book. It's similar to a Don Quiote read with regards to the length of the book. 1200pgs This was a great way for me to "hurry" and finish. Wonderful book and nice narration.

John Galt is needed today...

This book is more than just a classic and terribly good read, it is a time capsule just opened. Ayn Rand the real feminist in the highest sense. She shatters progressivism into its rightful place and exposes the real looters of the world. Should be required reading...

Political Satire At It's Peak

I found this book politically profound. Ahead of its time yet, unbelievably current. Great Read

Controversial

I don’t agree with some of the underlying values that guide the characters’ lives. But I am glad to have (at last) read this book.
