About this listen

Death and violence do not exist in Axiom. There is no strife, no war, no suffering. There is no hunger, no sadness, and no pain. Axiom is a place of perfection. But, at what cost?

In Axiom, mankind has willingly submitted itself to one man - the Lord Protector - who controls the destiny of every human being. Emotions have become outlawed. Relationships are forbidden. Any sign of the disease is treated with hostility.

Under the eternal guidance of the Lord Protector, mankind no longer knows what it means to be human. But stirring within the hearts and minds of a few individuals is a reality that cannot be ignored. Can anyone make a difference against a man who has seen thousands of years? Or will they be destroyed?

A world without names and emotions

I requested a free copy and I leave this unbiased review. I liked this story because it combines futuristic technologies inside a dystopic world. As the story continues, the characters have adventures and challenges to get the chance to recover what being a human is.

Thoughtful

This book follows a number of characters as they interact within a society that does not allow feelings of any kind outside the work assigned to the person. It develops these people well and shows them as they begin to realize there is something missing from their lives.

The world in which they exist is supposed to be the perfect environment but turns out to be far from it.

The narrator was very good and did the multiple characters well.

This book was provided free in expectation of an honest review.

Sing-song delivery distracting

Interesting concepts. Well written, though it was hard to connect to the characters since the idea is that they have no names, just number/letter assignations. The voice artist chose a sing-song delivery that was distracting.

Great!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a great book. Much better than I was expecting. I can't wait to get the next in the series and see what happens to the characters. The narrator was good but I did speed the book up to 1.4x as his pacing was a bit slow.

Interesting Storyline

This audiobook has some interesting concepts and a cast of characters have their point of view told during the plot, which moved along at a good pace. I didn't particularly care for any of the characters in this book, but that didn't deter me from following along with the ever changing events. Worth a listen if you like Utopian/dystopian themed stories.
