This is a perfect story for those who love dragons. What a wonderful story about a girl and her dragon friend. both lost their mothers when they were young, and a trust bond forms. but she isn't allowed to her ride her dragon. Do you think that will stop her?

My 8 year old brought this book home from the library and we started to read it together. It has a very good storyline in the fantasy genre aimed at the younger reader. In fact my son loved it so much he bought the download out of his allowance so that he could listen to it on his iPod while he followed along in the book.

I wish audible had the second book Riding the Storm.

The story was written from the point of view of a pre-teen girl; it could have been a horse farm in today's world. She grows to understand her father better, while she endures humility when a girl rival appears to triumph over her.

This is a well written book that will keep you engaged as you learn about the girl, her father and the orphaned dragon she's grown to love.

This was the first book I purchased from Audible.com and it may be considered a book for young readers; no matter, I loved it. The story line was delightful and the characters popped into my imagination with ease and color.
