An artist in glass and light, Angel has loved with passion and fire - and learned the true depths of sadness when what she loved was taken from her. When she first meets Miles Hawkins - a solitary, distant man - their mutual mistrust seems insurmountable.

Hawk has never known what Angel has freely enjoyed, having experienced only cruelty and betrayal from the women in his life. But Angel is willing to risk everything that proud, silent Hawk cannot, as she strives to bring truth and love to a tormented soul who believes in neither.

Yet giving her heart again could be a gamble with stakes too high and too painful for her to endure - for she fears that, by loving Hawk, she will surely lose him.

Critic reviews

"Laural Merlington gives Hawk a male huskiness and Angel vulnerability and determination....Those who like Lowell's stories will want to listen in on this....and learn about stained-glass-making, as well." ( AudioFile)

Elizabeth Lowell did not disappoint! This book was romantic, painful and just plain beautiful

My Thoughts

Amongst the first romances I ever read, I didn’t remember all the fishing and the time the protagonists spent on the boat. The lead man was awful to Angel basically the whole way through, I’m a bit shocked that I read it multiple times when I was younger! But all in all I was still IN it with Angel, it’s just that this time I wished she would toss him off the boat and leave him out at sea!

How different it is 20 years later
