Editorial reviews

Lorraine Howell’s tutorial on public speaking is an "eyes closed" program, meaning that it takes a listener into a deep visualization exercise to prepare for speaking in public and one should focus on that exclusively. In this performance, noted media skills-trainer Howell explains why mental images work in priming everyone from athletes to executives to be their most relaxed, confident selves. She talks listeners through a full-body unwinding exercise, zeroing in on the breath and on different parts of the physique. Finally, the listener imagines him or herself successfully delivering a presentation. The mind is subtly manipulated into thinking the poised public speaking engagement is authentic, and the mental results play out in the real world.
