C. S. Lewis reworks the timeless myth of Cupid and Psyche into an enduring piece of contemporary fiction in this novel about the struggle between sacred and profane love.

Set in the pre-Christian world of Glome on the outskirts of Greek civilization, it is a tale of two princesses: the beautiful Psyche, who is loved by the god of love himself, and Orual, Psyche's unattractive and embittered older sister, who loves Psyche with a destructive possessiveness. Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery.

Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

Every time I read this book the more I love it. C. S. Lewis’ novels are the story forms of his philosophy books. Till We Have Faces is a combination of all of them, but probably first and foremost a story form of Four Loves. The first time I read Till We Have Faces I loved it but didn’t really understand it; however, the more books by Lewis that I read the more pieces of this book fall into place. It is beautiful and can stand alone on its own two feet, but it is breathtaking when sewn together with his other works.

Absolute perfection!

A very excellent work, read by an outstanding talent. The voice work is clean and subtle, and matches the feel of the story well.

CS Lewis is one of the most influential authors of my life. This work especially moved my heart and soul. Though I have yet to find a work of his that I do not call a “must read,” “Till we have faces” uses fiction to reveal more truth than most other non-fiction I’ve read combined.

Impactful beyond belief

The voice for this book was so good. From a female pov, I’m so impressed by Lewis’ ability to use the female protagonist believably. The story was interesting and heart breaking, and I loved how it analyzes our love, the selfishness of it, and the lies we tell ourselves as armor. The narration was perfect, I really enjoyed it.
