Except for some overlong pauses between chapters, I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of Susannah Harker's reading and interpretation of the characters. I remember her from the 1995 production of Pride & Prejudice and enjoyed her performance then.

A good listen

This is my favorite Jane Austen novel. I remember Susannah Harker as Jane in the 1995 BBC adaptation of P&P. She was perfectly cast as Jane and it turns out she is well suited for reading Austen aloud. Her voice is soothing, clear and strong. She is able to bring clarity and understanding to Austen’s lyrical and complex sentences. Her character voices are distinctive enough to be pleasurable and easy to follow without being jarring or exaggerated. I will listen to this again and again whenever I desire the comfort and delight of my favorite Austen novel.

Superb Jane Austen

Susannah Harker really is a very gifted narrator. This is by far the best audio version.

I listened to the audiobook version of Sense and Sensibility read by Susannah Harker and it was possibly the best audiobook I have ever heard! Yes better than Jim Dale reading Harry Potter (which I also really enjoyed)! If you get a chance to pick up this audiobook version, you should. She is very good at making each character unique and keeping you engaged the whole book. It is unabridged so 14 hours long but well worth it.

Susannah Harker was amazing...
