Don't miss Lynley, a new series now streaming on BritBox!

“Delicately textured. . . achingly compassionate. . . gripping. . . . It’s one of George’s best, and that’s saying something.” —Seattle Times

The #1 New York Times bestselling author’s chilling 13th novel in the Inspector Lynley series

Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley faces the greatest challenge of his career.

When an adolescent boy’s nude body is found draped over a tomb in a graveyard, the police recognize the work of a serial killer who’s been murdering boys in London. This is the killer’s fourth victim but the first to be white.

Hoping to avoid charges of institutionalized prejudice in their failure to pursue the earlier crimes to their conclusion, New Scotland Yard takes the case and hands it over to Lynley and his colleagues Detective Constable Barbara Havers and Detective Sergeant Winston Nkata. The killer is a psychopath who does not intend to be stopped. But a devastating tragedy within their ranks causes the police to fumble in their pursuit, which may bring more fatal consequences.

As each chapter was revealed I was mesmerized by the turns this book took. You need to read these books in order, but if you like this Elizabeth Georges series you cannot miss this one

Almost gave up on this book because of the horrid, overly dramatic, jolting music that kicked in at the ending and beginning of each chapter. If I get another book with that, I'll return it.

Horrid music

Long before TV series writers began writing shocking episodes involving surprisingly terrible things for main characters to undergo, we have this book. It’s a shocker. BUT BUYER BEWARE—new narrator—not as good—and terrible ridiculous musical interludes. Just awful. Someone should have lost a job.

This is a famous novel

As a fan of Elizabeth George, I enjoyed this book. However, the change in the narration between the narrator in this book and different narrators in other books resulted in subtle differences. Some of the characters just didn't speak the same (inflection, emotion towards other characters). With the old narrator, I'd have given it 4 stars.

Bring back the old Narrator

Elizabeth George succeeds in weaving together another well-crafted story that draws you into the lives of Inspector Lynley and Barbara Havers and the murders that they are investigating.
