Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun-tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other great thinkers. Some laws teach the need for prudence ("Law 1: Never Outshine the Master") and the virtue of stealth ("Law 3: Conceal Your Intentions"); many demand the total absence of mercy ("Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally"). But like it or not, all have applications in real life. Illustrated through the tactics of Queen Elizabeth I, Henry Kissinger, P. T. Barnum, and other famous figures who have wielded, or been victimized by, power, these laws will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.©2000 Robert Greene and Joost Elffers; (P)2007 HighBridge Company Philosophy Law Thought-Provoking Stoicism Imperialism Interwar Period Inspiring Business Philosophy

The 48 laws of power is a very interesting book. Sure there is a devious spin on each example. Take that with a grain of salt. With that said, the distilled patterns of human nature do offer a thought-provoking perspective to view the world. I enjoyed the history as well.

i listen this book. And loved it, i will admitt not all of what the book had to offer made sense to me, but it really hits home. Most book hint at a point, but this book went all the way it tells you step by step how to follow each law. Try it!!!!

I liked the content of the book but it was read way too slow. I wished I would have read the book, I had to fight from falling asleep.

What did you like best about this story?

How not to give your power away. It is not about controlling power as it is to controlling yourself and the moment that you are in.

What aspect of Don Leslie’s performance would you have changed?

I wish he would have read faster with more emotion.
