Once upon a time Jack set out to seek his fortune in the big city. But Jack gets a bit lost on the way, and when he finally comes to a big city, it is Toy City, formerly known as Toy Town. And there is a serial killer loose upon the streets.

One by one, the old, rich nursery rhyme characters, who made their millions from the royalties on their best-selling rhymes, are being brutally slaughtered. The Toy City Police are getting nowhere. Bill Winkie, Private Eye, has also mysteriously vanished, leaving only his sidekick, Eddie Bear, to take care of business.

But Eddie's ready to take on the challenge and when he teams up with Jack, the two set out on a epic adventure. Not to mention a lot of heavy drinking, bad behaviour, fast car chases, gratuitous sex and violence, bizarre toy fetishism, and all-round grossness. Of a type not normally associated with Toy Town.

Although it is about chocolate bunnies, this is definitely humor for adults. Immensely pleasing and entertaining I found the twists and turns in the plot to be hilarious in this adult humor using a children nursery rhyme backdrop.

Adult Funny!

A funny, off-centre and excellent yarn from Robert Rankin. I drive a lot and listen to audiobooks in the car. This was one of the best so far. Mr Rankin reads his own work, and knows just how to bring the characters alive in his world.

More brilliance from Robert Rankin

Robert Rankin is a rare being indeed - a hugely amusing writer, and a superb narrator. The tale is difficult to classify, but if you enjoy quirky humour, clever dialogue, detective parodies and seedy toys, you'll love this one. The book will entrance adults and (older) kids, with a gritty tale of murder, friendship, greed and sex in seedy Toy City. It concludes with a gem of an interview with the author. I cannot recommend this one too highly!

Murder in Toy City!

This story has absolutely no surprises and has an overall feeling of being a simpeltons book because of the story taking place in "toy city" and all the characters being walking talking toys. I'm sure American readers will find it to be a book for adults because there are drinking, violence and sex going on,(among the toys) but the storyline and characters are so flat it could pass as a children's book.

Flat and predictable
