In Obsession, John Douglas once again takes us fascinatingly behind the scenes, focusing his expertise on predatory crimes, primarily against women. With a deep sense of compassion for the victims and an uncanny understanding of the perpetrators, Douglas looks at the obsessions that lead to rape, stalking, and sexual murder through such cases as Ronnie Shelton, the serial rapist who terrorized Cleveland; and New York's notorious "Preppie Murder."

But Douglas also looks at obsession on the other side of the moral spectrum: his own career-long obsession with hunting these predators. Douglas shows us how we can all fight back and protect ourselves, our families, and loved ones against the scourge of the violent predators in our midst.

The first step is insight and understanding, and no one is better qualified to penetrate Obsession than John Douglas.

Worth a read but very short.

It was very short and could've covered more specific cases instead of beating us over the head with 3 or 4.

Very Interesting book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Obsession to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audio editions with my busy schedule! I can listen while I exercise or when driving. This book is a great example of why, in some cases, audio can be better then print since the Author was also the reader!

I had the opportunity to hear John Douglass speak in person many years ago. His passion for the work he did was very evident in his presentation to the audience. That same passion is there in his book.

Informative and relevant

Although Obsession was written several decades ago I found that most of his examples were still relevant to current events. I liked how he provided sound advice and information on, for example, what to do if caught in a dangerous situation or red flags to look for in a relationship that might go from toxic to dangerous to deadly. I recommend reading Obsession

Like reading casefiles

An insightful look into the minds of men who stalk, rape and kill. Sometimes the justice system is maddening after hearing all the facts and seeing what happened in court. Makes a good case for increasing the severity of punishment for menacing behavior like stalking.

Great Read for women and the risk they can face. It really makes you think about things.
