The sixth gripping thriller in the No.1 bestselling crime series from the award-winning Stuart MacBride.

Scotland’s finest see first-hand how starting again can be murder…

‘MacBride is a damned fine writer’ Peter James

Everyone deserves a second chance…

Richard Knox has done his time and seen the error of his ways. He wants to leave his dark past behind, so why shouldn’t he be allowed to live wherever he wants?

Detective Sergeant Logan McRae isn’t thrilled about having to help a violent rapist settle into Aberdeen. Even worse, he’s stuck with the man who put Knox behind bars, DSI Danby, supposedly to ‘keep an eye on things’.

Only things are about to go very, very wrong.

Edinburgh gangster Malk the Knife wants a slice of Aberdeen’s latest development boom. Local crime lord Wee Hamish Mowat has ominous plans for Logan’s future. And Knox’s past isn’t finished with him yet…

Critic reviews

Praise for Dark Blood:

‘A terrific writer … Brilliant … bodies abound, blood flows freely and McRae is a delight’ The Times

‘Stuart MacBride’s thrillers just keep getting better … One of the most disturbing novels in the highly successful Logan McRae series … admirers of tough, modern crime novels will be in seventh heaven – or should that be hell?’ Express

‘The plotting puts most writers in the genre to shame … This is quintessential Stuart MacBride: tartan noir etched in the darkest of hues with dialogue so sharp you might cut yourself’ Independent

‘Tartan noir’s greatest exponent’ Daily Mirror

Oh, Logan, get your act together! LOL I love this series and the characters. But after everything that's happened to DS McRae lately he needs to come to terms with it all and get back to "normal." Whatever normal is. The violence is gory (not as much as in the previous book) and there's a bit of it. There's also a lot of humor and that's one of the things I like about these books.

A great story, well narrated by the author. I didn't care for the dramatic music at the beginning and end though.

Another one in a great series

All of Aberdeen’s talent wrapped up in one package by the author/narrator.
I cringed, laughed out loud and was on the edge of my seat wanting more.
Logan, Steele and biohazard Bob came to life in a ever shifting snowfall of agony, twists, office politics and at times, riotous ribbing.
Well done Stuart let’s have more please.

Brilliant!

Where does Dark Blood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It doesn't rank at all

Would you be willing to try another one of Stuart MacBride’s performances?

I did and was quite disappointed. I really like this series however not with Mr. MacBride presenting.

Bad narration

Could not find one sympathetic character with whom to identify. Steele in particular is a caricature. Judging from their language, everybody has a scatological fixation— with the possible exception of Samantha. Just couldn’t figure out why I was trying to get through it since it didn’t seem to be making me a smarter, happier, or better informed person. MacBride is an excellent narrator—I mean that sincerely.

Not my cup of tea
