Paige has only a few vivid memories of her mother, who left when she was five. Now, having run away from her father for dreams of art school and marriage to an ambitious young doctor, Paige finds herself with a child of her own. But her mother's absence, and shameful memories of her past, make her doubt her ability as a mother and her own self-worth.

This book was well performed but overall disappointing. The story ends abruptly and I have to admit I felt a little cheated! I invested how many hours and at the end I felt there needed to be another chapter.

I don't recommend this book.

Disappointing Book

Would you try another book from Jodi Picoult and/or Kate Harper and Garrick Hagon ?

I simply could not listen to more than an hour of this audio book. Kate Harper's voice drones on in a way that is really not pleasant. Her 'male' voices are positively bizarre in their extremely low and slow tones - almost sounding distorted. Eventually I just closed the book down and couldn't go on.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jodi Picoult? Why or why not?

Yes

How did the narrator detract from the book?

See above. Ruined everything for me. I had just finished The Story Teller and I was so excited for this one.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I'm sure it did, but I couldn't suffer through the narration.

Any additional comments?

I have tried to return this book, without success. Please help!

Narrator ruined this for me entirely
