Following the death of her bullying husband, Etta Bancroft's selfish children move her to a village in the Cotswolds. One night, she discovers a filly, left to die in the snow. As always with Jilly Cooper storyies it was fun to read and kept me interested right till the end. Very enjoyable.

This was quite a long audio book but it was never dull. There were lots of characters some sweat, some sexy, some obnoxious. Gerri Halligan did a good job with the voices making it a very easy book to listen to.

After years of refusing to read Jilly Cooper after having friends reccomend it to me, I was suprised at how much I enjoyed this. Well narrated, and what a bunch of characters. But I particularly liked how the animals were bought to life in this novel.

Dora Belvedon is performed as a great combination of jolly hockey sticks enthusiasm and gutter journalist.

Jilly Cooper is low-brow fiction, but she has a huge heart. Nothing is more important to her than human kindness.
