Sweden, 1732. Strong-willed Jess van Sandt knows only too well that it's a man's world. She believes she's being swindled out of her inheritance by her stepfather and she's determined to stop it. When help appears in the unlikely form of handsome Scotsman Killian Kinross, Jess finds herself both intrigued and infuriated by him. In an attempt to recover her fortune, she proposes a marriage of convenience.

I really only chose this book because I’d enjoyed the narrator before. It didn’t disappoint and I really enjoyed her reading of this. It’s a good book, not particularly challenging but good escapism and I appreciated the historical research.

Fabulous narrator

I was looking for some historical fiction entertain me through a weekend of spring yard cleanup, and Trade Winds exceeded my expectations. It has a great story line, yet not so complicated that I missed something important if I got interruped. The plot is similar to other historical novels (female protagonist smarter than women are supposed to be ends up in an arranged marriage). The setting in Sweden is different than "the usual". The story sometimes seemed a little contrived, but that's par for the course in this genre. This is a great choice to escape from reality in a lively story with a happy ending!

Enjoyable light listen
