Emily Pollifax is one of a precious few gray-haired female sleuths who solve their cases through unflagging determination, moral courage and wisdom that comes with age. In The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax, Emily answers the call of that “nice Mr. Carstairs” to go to Istanbul as a courier and search for a missing agent.

For those unfortunate enough never to have read or listened to the novels in the Mrs. Pollifax series, you are missing some wonderful books. THE AMAZING MRS. POLLIFAX, released in 1970, is the second of many books in the series. Mrs. Pollifax is an elderly widow who is repeatedly called on by the CIA to help them with cases. Against all odds she repeatedly helps the CIA protect our country as she travels the cold war era world from one hot spot to another. The incomparable British voice specialist Barbara Rosenblat narrates most of the series audio novels using an American accent. Her voice range is incredible (only Katherine Kellgren was better).

I really enjoyed this book. It was a lot of fun combined with mystery and suspense creating a fun lighter spy novel. Barbara Rosenblat narrates beautifully and brings the book even more to life. This is the first Mrs. Pollifax novel I have read (not the first in the series, but the first I have "read") and was delighted to find it and I am eager to purchase more of these books. Mrs. Pollifax is a wonderful character and the other characters in the novel are also interesting and entertaining. I greatly recommend!

Enjoyed from beginning to end!

Hilarious at times

This was my first Mrs. Pollifax and I was delighted. The characters were memorable, pace was good and narrator was amazing. I have no criticism of the 'old lady' voice. If there was any concern about Ms. Rosenblat's narration, it was that a few times her phrasing/pauses seemed off. Her accents were wonderful though. I love the story and will now search for more Mrs. P.

What fun!!
