I enjoyed the story and as a big cyberpunk fan thought it was interesting to look into the origins of some of it but the narrator is really bland. Half the time I didn’t know who was talking and it caused a lot of confusion in following the narrative

Good story, bland reader

Over all I am a big cyberpunk fan, and with this being the god father of cyberpunk I thought I would like this.Sadly I just could not get into it, Its not that out dated Ideas that have been revisioned by new works by other people that have me. I love old tech stories and the ways people thought it would grow ( such as Ben Bova's works ). In all honesty it is in large parts the editing.

This is one of those rare books that an abridged version might be better, there are just times and ideas where this book just flat out drags out to the point of boring the reader.
I cant help but feel had this book been re-edited in a better way, It could have been amazing.

A classic that drags

this is the first 3 star rating I have given a book. the subject matter is interesting, especially for when it was written. the narrator lacks enthusiasm sometimes. his tone is the same for describing a room as it is for a character in a stressful situation. I caught myself drifting off and rewinding, wondering how the story got to where it is as a huge jump just occurred and I missed it.

easy to lose focus

Great story, nostalgic of early technology that was cusp of what would be believed as cutting edge. The story is written to let the mind wander with detail left for the reader. The narrator is a little dry at times, but plays the plot well.

The book that inspired them all!
