NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this hilarious instant classic, the creator of The Mindy Project and Never Have I Ever invites readers on a tour of her life and her unscientific observations on romance, friendship, and Hollywood.

“[Kaling is] like Tina Fey’s cool little sister. Or perhaps . . . the next Nora Ephron.”—The New York Times

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Perhaps you want to know what Mindy thinks makes a great best friend (someone who will fill your prescription in the middle of the night), or what makes a great guy (one who is aware of all elderly people in any room at any time and acts accordingly), or what is the perfect amount of fame (so famous you can never get convicted of murder in a court of law), or how to maintain a trim figure (you will not find that information in these pages). If so, you’ve come to the right book, mostly!

With several conveniently placed stopping points for you to run errands and make phone calls, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? proves that Mindy Kaling really is just a Girl Next Door—not so much literally anywhere in the continental United States, but definitely if you live in India or Sri Lanka.

She seems extremely educated and she is very funny. She also does a great job narrating her own book as her voice is semi-annoying but in a humorous, cute way. I really enjoyed listening to this title. Love her take on movies, music and creating lists.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Mindy Kaling does a great job of showcasing her personality. I did want to hear more about her writing on the office and everything she's gone through to become a writer. But I feel that the book was incredibly insightful into the mind of such a vibrant author and comedian. I also want to hear more about her standup comedy even if it was for one moment. Lol

Good listen. Mindy shines through.

Add this to the list of enjoyable, quasi-autobiographical works by comedians like Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Samantha Bee, and Ellen DeGeneres. Not as laugh-out-loud humorous (like Bee's or Fey's) but more genuinely autobiographical like Martin's. Any fan of the Office or modern humor in general would get a kick out of it.

Enjoyable bio

Good, short listen to a sarcastic and witty telling of Mindy's life. More of a story than a bio of memoir.

Light and Humorous

After a while, it feels like a long, but funny, rant. I can only listening to someone rant for so long, but this seems like Mindy's style. I would describe this book as 'cute'.

Sort of a long rant
