Mary Shelley’s poignant exploration of the true depths of human ambition has had a profound effect on readers since its conception in 1816. When scientist Victor Frankenstein forms a creature from the body parts of corpses, thus shattering the perceived limits of scientific understanding, the consequences are devastating. As Frankenstein becomes disgusted with his experiment, he thwarts the creature’s desire for a companion, and what ensues is singularly chilling.

Such a captivating story and presented by a group of the most talented voice actors I’ve heard in any audiobook. Bravo!

As the Joker says, "you get what you deserve," and we all deserve top quality audio recordings like this edition of Frankenstein. Laying aside the intellectual beauty of Mary Shelley's prose, along with the wonderfully structured nature and intellectual heights that Frankenstein rises to, which remain unsurpassed (Frankenstein is the best Gothic novel of all time), the performances are excellent, particularly the performance of Victor Frankenstein. The university scenes in which the monster is created are captured vividly, so vividly its like a peculiarly excited Swiss crazy man is crawling around your skull. The music in and out establishes a wonderful mindscape, just as having gendered narrators makes for a dynamic listening experience. I listened to this book from start to end, and this is a recording I will come back to again.

The Bomb!
