A Devilish Duke on a Quest for Pleasure...

Frannie Darling was once a child of London's roughest streets, surrounded by petty thieves, pickpockets, and worse. But though she survived this harsh upbringing to become a woman of incomparable beauty, Frannie wants nothing to do with the men who lust for her, the rogues who frequent the gaming hall where she works. She can take care of herself and feels perfectly safe on her own-safe, that is, until he strides into her world, and once again it becomes a very dangerous place indeed.

To bed her but not wed her. That's what Sterling Mabry, the eighth Duke of Greystone, wants. But Frannie abhors arrogant aristocrats interested only in their own pleasure. So why then does the thought of an illicit tryst with the devilish duke leave her trembling with desire? Her willing body begs for release . . . and a wicked, wonderful surrender.

Overall I think this was a nice addition to this series. I have to say I didn't really love the romance for the first 2/3's because it felt forced and a bit rushed. Once I was at the last 3rd however, things felt more natural. Though it was lacking in action and didn't have as steady of a pace as the first 2 books, it was still really nice to hear Frannie's side of things. Also, Lorraine Heath laced bits and pieces of what was going on with Luke and Jack throughout the story which made it feel more like a continuation of book 1 & 2 and not just a separate story all together.

Susan Ericksen's performance was good, though as I have said through this entire series, she needs to have a bit more variation in her characters, Overall, the spunk and attitude she gives to each person is great, and she was consistent with everyone's voices throughout the series, which can sometimes vary with other performers.

If you decide to listen and kind of find yourself bored or not as interested as you were in books 1 & 2 - stick with it. The ending really makes it all worth. Its a sweet story and everything Frannie does is so loving. You also get a nice glimpse into everyone's future, which always feels good.

Sweet Frannie!!

It has been fun to follow this series. The narration is great and the author weaves a good story. This was an enjoyable read.

Worth a credit

This is a good story, yet it was not quite the story or HEA for Frannie I thought it would be. Overall, worth the credit, and worth reading if you already like the series.

Not My Favorite in This Series

I had low expectations on this book. Sterling (Catherine's brother) was a jerk on the first book and continued to be a jerk at the beginning of this one. Frannie was very uptight. And although I absolutely believe in love/lust at first sight sometimes it is difficult to believe. But it totally worked on this book. As only Heath can master she developed another powerful love story. Her character development continues to amaze me as both Frannie and Sterling ended up being completely different from why I was expecting at the beginning.

I suggest that you follow this series in order as you will get updates of the other couples from previous books. The epilogue was So So Sooo good! It gives you the impression the author was going to end the series with that book. It was a complete conclusion. She even said what will happen to the inspector. She apparently changed her mind because there is a fourth book with the story of Jim. All in a this was another great romantic and passionate story with excellent character development that will keep you wanting more.

Narration: Susan Ericksen did a very good. Great accents, great emotions and intensity. Definitely worth your time and credit!

A four stars historical romance

If you've listened to the previous books in this series and enjoyed them, you're doubtless to enjoy this one also. You're going to be so happy to get to know Franny better. Similarly to book 1 & 2, the journal entries continue to add something special to this audiobook.
If you haven't listened to the previous books, I would recommend doing so. I think you'll still enjoy the book, but there are definitely some references you won't understand without starting with book one.

FYI: This book isn't exactly a sequel. It seems to be happening at the same time as the first two books.

Loved This Story!
