The sixth in the New York Times bestselling Dave Robicheaux series delivers a heart-pounding bayou manhunt—and features “one of the coolest, earthiest heroes in thrillerdom” (Entertainment Weekly).

When Hollywood invades New Iberia Parish to film a Civil War epic, restless specters waiting in the shadows for Louisiana detective Dave Robicheaux are reawakened—ghosts of a history best left undisturbed.

Hunting a serial killer preying on the lawless young, Robicheaux comes face-to-face with the elusive guardians of his darkest torments—who hold the key to his ultimate salvation or a final, fatal downfall.

If you could sum up In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead in three words, what would they be?

Very - good

What aspect of Mark Hammer’s performance would you have changed?

he is so dry I can't tell when he changes characters. his voice is so gravely & nasal i can not picture him as Dave. No disrespect to Mr. Hammer. I just don't care for his reading in these novels

Any additional comments?

I would love to have the whole series re read by Will Patton.

Better than I thought

Very good book. Extremely well read by the narrator. I loved the story, and the setting. I enjoyed the movie and read (listened to) the book afterwards. If you like detective books you will like this one.

Spellbinding

Disturbing characters, outlandish turns, wonderful philosophical and historical references and a truly dramatic and poignant mystery mystery.

One of his very best!

A complicated tale

Would you be willing to try another book from James Lee Burke? Why or why not?

Yes, will be continuing the listen to the rest in this series. You get attached to the characters.

Have you listened to any of Mark Hammer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is book six in this series and I listened to all of them by Hammer. Good reader, great dialect, really nice pace to his reading. Sometimes too easy and I have to go back to see what I missed.

The General’s parts do not and likely cannot equal to the actors voice in the movie.
